My idea of retaining knowledge from different fields of learning is to
sandwich them in a way which opens a whole new dimension. To get

to the specifics i was trying to relate vedic astrology with music and
to my excitement i’ve found plenty of articles on western, eastern
styles of this amazing level of relationship between these areas.

Just to quote a few things from vedic astrology there are various

methods which can help in minimizing the effect of malefic and
maximizing the benefic planetary influence by

Wearing gemstones
Conducting the yagna (ritual worship of hinduism)
Pilgrimage to sacred temples (where the planets being the main deity)
Reciting the hymns specific to the planets
Performing customs based on lal kitab (Red Book)

All the above quoted methods are very much practiced by folks
who still believe in vedic astrology. Based on the same lines there

are few relations between the planets and the music. My search
is still in a premature stage so kindly pardon me if i’ve not presented
enough food for the thought. I’ve just provided the summary of what
I’ve in my mind at this moment albeit I’ve plans to probe deeper into
this area based on the time and materials accessible to me.

One of the interesting articles which I’ve read convinces me
on the relationship between the ancient art of astrology and music.
It starts with the idea of both of music and astrology has a common
base of natural elements (planets – formed of various natural elements,
music – heat and wind – again elements). So sharing the common
base is there any relation which can be made use of ?. Yes, it is perhaps
possible if the procedures are explored and used as prescribed by

ancient scholars, seers. Following are the partial list of similarities
which can be found in both vedic astrology & Indian classical music.

12 Zodiac signs - 12 music notes
3 Worlds (Vedic) - 3 Octave (low, mid, high)
Day, hour, minutes – rhythm patterns

As we tend to move forward with these relationship musical notes can be
assigned to each sign thereby to each planet (based on planets & sign

relationship).

Aries - A (Mars)
Taurus - A# (Venus)
Gemini – B (Mercury)
Cancer - G (Moon)
Leo - C (Sun)
Virgo - C# (Mercury)
Libra – D (Venus)
Scorpio – D# (Mars)
Sagittarius – E (Jupiter)
Capricorn – F (Saturn)
Aquarius – F# (Saturn)
Pisces – G# (Jupiter)

On what basis the notes are assigned to the signs? C, G in carnatic is
always constant irrespective of the pitch. Unlike other planets sun

and moon always move in a constant motion.
